Merlin Clarke
Director, Do Good Bus
As the Director of the Do Good Bus, Merlin has committed to being a driving force in bringing awareness to social injustice and the immediate needs of the communities we serve. By creating and supporting ongoing projects where we work alongside residents, we build trust and deepen relationships.
The Do Good Bus is actually a Transformation Bus, bringing people together, unifying them in purpose. Being in service of others reduces stress and increases our sense of well-being and directly impacts our mental health.
Merlin is a Co-Founder and “Head of Happenings” at Dogeared, a California-based B Corporation and jewelry brand synonymous with real style and meaningful messages.
Gary Crane
CFO, Integrated Endoscopy
Gary is best known for his 20 years as co-owner of Duffy Electric Boat Co. Duffy is the leading brand in electric pleasure boating around the world. He left Duffy in 2004 to pursue new ventures, which included launching LOVE Reusable Bags and currently involved with startups in the medical products industry.
He’s been long time friends with Marcia and Merlin, who provide the inspiration to give back and blend social responsibility with business. “Stoked to be on board with such an awesome group and cause.” When not in the office or at board meetings, you will find Gary surfing.
Stephanie MacDougall
Stephanie has a background in corporate development with an emphasis on working with nonprofit companies. She has worked with the Boston Athletic Association for the better part of the last decade and began her work with the American Red Cross while in graduate school. She continues to help the Red Cross create the framework for reporting and analytic processes that help drive the development of various programs. When not working she’s most likely off reading or traveling.
Dwight Knell
Dwight Knell has over 10 years of policy and communications experience with deep expertise at the intersection of politics, media, technology and journalism. He is a current Master of Public Policy candidate at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government. Previously, he acted as Program Lead for the Credibility Coalition, a startup committed to improving information ecosystems and media literacy. In addition, he worked as Lead Producer for various global MisinfoCons, interactive conferences designed to combat misinformation. Dwight has also consulted for the Shorenstein Center on Media, Politics and Public Policy, served as Chief of Staff at Common Sense and organized for the 2008 Obama presidential campaign. He has been a featured speaker at numerous conferences, including SXSW, the international Journalism Festival and Media Party Buenos Aires. Though a world traveler, Dwight is based in Cambridge, MA and spends as much time outdoors as he possibly can.
Dana Trans
Dana is passionate about using business, strategic partnerships, and storytelling to advance society toward a more sustainable and equitable future. She has spent time building mission-driven, B-Corp brands, such as Soma Water and Plum Organics, PBC, leveraging private-public partnerships to drive shared value. Dana now sits on the Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability team at Campbell Soup Company, and manages Sustainable Brand Development. Her career has been a mix of strategic development, program management, sustainability integration, and marketing activation to build systems for lasting impact. She holds a BS in Environmental Systems and Society from University of California Los Angeles.
Matthew D. Thomas
Sales Manager, Bemis Associates
Matt has spent the majority of his career in sales management roles after a stint in management consulting. He has specialized in delivering innovative B2B and B2C solutions to niche markets, including, most recently, the outdoor apparel and innovation teams at Patagonia, Adidas, and Columbia. Matt enjoys challenging the norm and thinking creatively to find unique solutions to complex challenges. In his relatively short career, he has gained significant experience working and communicating with individuals and teams across many business functions and vertically, from consumers to executives.
Matt escaped from Boston to LA in January 2018, and has been enjoying the year round access to oceans, mountains, and the entrepreneurial spirit of Southern California.
Jay Nikolich
Jay is a veteran eCommerce / Omnichannel leader with over 18 years of experience in the Consumer Packaged Goods, Nutraceutical, Health & Wellness, Beauty and Tool/Hardware categories working with major retailers across the eCommerce, Food/Drug/Mass, Home Improvement, Industrial, and Club channels.
He has been recognized as an industry thought leader serving as a featured speaker at the Path to Purchase Expo’s eCommerce Symposium; Kantar’s Retail Group’s eCommerce and Omnichannel Conference; Edge by Ascential’s “Advanced Retail Strategy Program” at the UCLA School of Business; and as a Nielsen guest panelist at the Grocery Manufacturers Association Leadership Forum in addition to being named to the Path to Purchase Institute Magazine’s “Who’s Who in eCommerce.”
Kelsey Sabo
Kelsey believes in doing good - but doing it well. She works with brands, shifting their give-back models and missions to be as globally conscious as possible. She spent the last 8+ years working around the world, specializing in sustainability, from grass-root to government-led initiatives.
A Returned Peace Corps Volunteer (Uganda ‘14 -’18), Kelsey devoted her time abroad to literacy, reproductive health programs, youth empowerment through art, teaching yoga in prisons, and on malaria & HIV/AIDS projects across Africa.
A believer of long-term, community-driven solutions, Kelsey founded a non-profit project in Uganda, which trains at-risk women to sew and provides them a reliable income and profits go to improving a local school.
Fueled by her entrepreneurial spirit, Kelsey enjoys being resourceful, analytical, and charismatic. She’s passionate about the power of community & believes the key to success is kindness, grit, and dogs.
Andrew Spottiswoode
Andrew has over 17 years of experience working within the financial markets and services industry; including as a trader of North American commodities at Cargill Inc., as an Economist at the CME Group, as a Product Manager within fixed-income markets at PIMCO, and more. Andrew joined the Do Good Bus team in 2020 and relocated back to Southern California from Chicago simultaneously. Andrew's favorite thing about Southern California is his access to downhill skiing and golf during his free time.
