Volunteering with Reddit at VA Heroes Garden

A Day of Community and Connection

At Do Good Bus, we believe in the power of bringing people together for a cause, and when a group from Reddit joined us, we knew it was going to be a day worthy of r/MadeMeSmile.

Recently, we facilitated a ride to the VA Heroes Garden in Los Angeles, a space run by veterans for veterans, where the Reddit team spent the day making a positive impact.

Reddit Volunteers Rolling Up Their Sleeves

The Reddit team was ready to get their hands dirty, and they did just that by mending garden beds, planting fresh fall vegetables, and organizing the tool shed. Their efforts were not just about tending to the garden; they were about supporting the veterans who dedicate their time to maintaining it. The VA Heroes Garden is more than just a place to grow food—it's a community space that empowers veterans, promotes sustainability, and addresses food insecurity.

Empowering Veterans Through Sustainability

The mission of the VA Los Angeles is to help veterans regain independence by providing them with the skills and resources to cultivate their organic produce. Through projects like the Heroes Garden, the VA supports sustainability, healthy eating, and, most importantly, community healing.

Thank you, Redditors!

This event was a powerful reminder of the impact that small actions can have on larger movements. Seeing the Reddit volunteers work alongside the veterans highlighted the value of sustainable food practices and the resilience of those who cultivate it. We're proud to have facilitated this connection.

We want to extend a huge thank you to Reddit. Together, we're making a difference—one ride at a time, and if we could, we'd upvote every single one of you!
